Zurich Dominates Winterthur in Super League Season Opener
ZURICH (Interstat) — Zurich opened its Swiss Super League season with a commanding 3-0 victory over visiting Winterthur on Wednesday at Stadion Letzigrund.
Forward Philippe Keny scored twice to lead the hosts, netting in the 29th minute and again deep in stoppage time. Midfielder Nevio Di Giusto opened the scoring in the seventh minute. The assists came from a host of players, including substitutes Elias Maluvunu and Mirlind Kryeziu.
The match grew chippy late, with seven yellow cards issued after the 46th minute, six of them to Winterthur players. Zurich’s win exceeded the projection of Interstat’s game simulator, which had forecast a 2-1 result. The club began its campaign with a win while Winterthur started with a loss.
