PORTO, Portugal (Jan. 14, 2026) (Interstat) — Porto defeated rival Sport Lisboa e Benfica 1-0 in a Taça de Portugal match Wednesday at Estádio do Dragão. Defender Jan Bednarek scored the game’s only goal in the 15th minute.

The match was a defensive struggle, with Porto’s early strike proving decisive. Benfica, the visiting side, was unable to find an equalizer. The result improved Porto’s record to 1-0 in the competition, while Benfica fell to 0-1.

The contest featured numerous yellow cards, with 11 issued in total. The outcome defied a pregame projection from Interstat, whose simulator had predicted a 1-1 draw, though its ELO system heavily favored Porto to win.
