CANCÚN, Mexico (Interstat) — Cancun opened its Liga de Expansión MX season with a 2-1 victory over Atlante on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo.

The home side secured the win despite statistical projections favoring the visitors. Atlante entered with a slight edge in pregame predictive models but could not translate that into a result. José Rodríguez gave Cancun the lead in the 19th minute, a goal that proved decisive in the tightly contested match.

The game was a physical affair, producing six yellow cards. The result gives Cancun a winning start across all competitions this season, while Atlante searches for its first victory.
