TOLUCA, Mexico (Interstat) — Toluca and Atletico San Luis opened their Liga MX seasons with a 1-1 draw Sunday at Estadio Nemesio Díez.

The visitors took a surprise lead in the 72nd minute when Franco Rossi scored, assisted by Luan. Substitute João Pedro salvaged the draw for the home side in second-half stoppage time, converting a pass from Aldo Cruz.

The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored Toluca. The match was a physical affair, with four yellow cards issued in a chaotic final minutes. Both clubs begin the campaign with identical records across all competitions.
