PUEBLA, Mexico (Interstat) — Substitute Kenedy scored twice to propel Pachuca to a 2-1 comeback victory over Cruz Azul in a Liga MX match Saturday at Estadio Cuauhtémoc.

Cruz Azul took an early lead when forward Ebere Osinachi scored in first-half stoppage time. Kenedy, however, equalized just before halftime and netted the winner in the 58th minute. Pachuca’s win defied pregame projections that heavily favored the home side.

The match turned chippy late, with Cruz Azul’s Christian Rivera shown a red card in the 84th minute and teammate Víctor Guzmán dismissed five minutes later. Pachuca opens its season 1-0-0, while Cruz Azul starts 0-1-0.
