BRUGGE, Belgium (Interstat) — Anderlecht and Club Brugge opened their Belgian First Division A campaigns with a 2-2 draw Sunday at Jan Breydelstadion.

The match defied pregame projections that heavily favored the home side. Anderlecht’s Nathan De Cat opened the scoring in the 36th minute, but Club Brugge’s Nicolò Tresoldi equalized six minutes later. Tristan Degreef put the hosts ahead in the 53rd, only for Tresoldi to secure a share of the points for the visitors with his second goal in the 85th minute.

Tresoldi’s brace highlighted the action in a physical contest that saw four yellow cards. The result leaves both clubs with identical records to start the season across all competitions.
