AYUTTHAYA, Thailand (Interstat) — Ayutthaya United opened its Thai League 1 season with a 1-0 victory over Rayong on Saturday at Ayutthaya Stadium. Defender Hwang Hyunsoo scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute, converting after a buildup involving substitutes Supawit Romphopak and Jaturapat Sattham. Rayong played a man down for nearly 50 minutes after Manny Ott received a red card in the 42nd minute. The match featured four yellow cards, including one to Ayutthaya’s Yashir Islame just before halftime. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that had forecast a 1-1 draw. Ayutthaya United begins the campaign with a win, while Rayong starts with a loss.
