CR Vasco da Gama vs SC Corinthians Paulista
PREVIEW: Corinthians, Vasco da Gama Meet Again in Copa do Brasil Feminino
RIO DE JANEIRO (Interstat) — A quick rematch with a spot in the next round on the line is set for Sunday when CR Vasco da Gama hosts SC Corinthians Paulista in the Copa do Brasil Feminino.
The two Brazilian powers played to a tense 0-0 draw just four days earlier in São Paulo, setting the stage for a decisive second leg at Vasco’s home ground. The winner will advance in Brazil’s premier national women’s club tournament.
Corinthians, the visiting side, enters with momentum from a tight defensive streak. Beyond Wednesday’s stalemate with Vasco, Timão has won three consecutive matches 1-0, including a victory over EC Cruzeiro on Dec. 10. Their organized defense has not conceded a goal in their last four contests across all competitions.
Vasco da Gama, however, will rely on its home-field advantage and a more potent recent attacking form. Prior to the scoreless draw with Corinthians, Vasco earned a 2-1 comeback victory over rival Fluminense on Dec. 11. They have scored multiple goals in three of their last five home matches.
The head-to-head history, however, underscores the challenge. The teams’ meeting earlier this week was a tactical battle with few clear chances, a pattern Corinthians will likely seek to replicate.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the match is projected to end in a narrow 1-0 victory for Corinthians.
The match kicks off at 4 p.m. local time (1800 GMT) on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025.
