Sitra vs Muharraq
Preview: Muharraq Visits Sitra in Bahrain Premier League Clash
MANAMA, Bahrain (Interstat) — Muharraq looks to rebound from its first defeat in nearly two months when it visits a resurgent Sitra in Bahrain Premier League play on Tuesday.
The match at Sitra Club Stadium pits a traditional power against a side gathering momentum in the second half of the season.
Muharraq (5-3-3) enters following a 1-0 home loss to Al Khaldiya SC last Friday, which snapped a four-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. Prior to that setback, Muharraq had recorded consecutive shutout victories over Budaiya and Al Hidd. Its form has been inconsistent, however, with a 4-0 loss to Al Riffa and a draw with last-place Malkiya earlier in the campaign.
Sitra (3-4-3), meanwhile, is coming off a confidence-boosting 2-1 away win over Al Ahli on Dec. 28. That result extended its current unbeaten run to three matches, including scoreless draws against A’ali CSC and Al Najma. Sitra’s attack has shown flashes, netting four goals in a win over Bahrain SC, but has also been blanked twice.
Statistical models favor the visitors. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for Muharraq, while its ELO rating system gives Muharraq a 59.2% probability of winning.
The matchup is crucial for both sides as they navigate a packed January schedule. Muharraq will aim to reclaim its winning form before a quick turnaround at A’ali CSC on Saturday. Sitra seeks to prove its recent results are a trend and climb the table before facing Malkiya next weekend.
Kickoff is set for Tuesday evening local time.
