MANTA, Ecuador (Interstat) — Brian Montenegro scored in second-half stoppage time to give visiting Aucas a 1-0 victory over Delfin in a Liga Pro match Saturday at Estadio Jocay.

The match, the season opener for both Ecuadorian clubs, was a defensive struggle until the 92nd minute. Substitute Montenegro finished the decisive play, assisted by Mateo Burdisso. The goal defied pregame projections that favored Delfin.

The contest was marked by physical play, resulting in eight yellow cards. Aucas improved to 1-0 in league play, while Delfin fell to 0-1.
