Colombia, Portugal Play to Scoreless Draw
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — Colombia and Portugal played to a scoreless draw Saturday in a World Cup match at Hard Rock Stadium. Neither team found the net, leaving both with a record of zero wins, zero losses and one draw in the competition, as well as across all competitions.
Portugal controlled possession for large stretches but could not convert. Colombia’s Gustavo Puerta recorded the only assist of the match and received a yellow card in the 86th minute. The result marked the first outing of the tournament for both sides, each failing to break through a stubborn defense.
The game lacked any goals despite sustained pressure from the visitors. Colombia’s midfield worked to disrupt Portugal’s rhythm, but the home side also struggled to create clear chances. The clean sheet preserved a point for each team as the group stage began.
