France vs Senegal

PARIS (Interstat) — France hosts Senegal on Tuesday, June 16, in a friendly international football match at the Stade de France, a final warm-up for both teams before the World Cup.

France enters the game on a seven-match unbeaten run, with its most recent result a 3-1 victory at Azerbaijan on Nov. 16. The French also defeated Ukraine 4-0 on Nov. 13 and played Germany to a 2-2 draw on Oct. 28. Other results this season include a 2-2 draw with Iceland on Oct. 13, a 3-0 win over Azerbaijan on Oct. 10, a 2-1 victory at Iceland on Sept. 9, and a 2-0 win at Ukraine on Sept. 5. France’s last loss was not listed.

Senegal has won five of its last six matches, most recently a 1-0 victory over Morocco on Jan. 18. The Lions of Teranga also beat Egypt 1-0 on Jan. 14, drew 1-1 at DR Congo on Dec. 27, crushed Mauritania 4-0 on Oct. 14, and blanked South Sudan 5-0 on Oct. 10. Additional results include a 3-2 win at Congo DR on Sept. 9 (listed twice), a 2-0 victory at Sudan on Sept. 5, a 2-0 home win over Sudan on Sept. 5, a 1-1 draw at South Sudan on Aug. 29, and a 6-4 loss to Morocco on Aug. 26.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw.

Both teams have World Cup group-stage matches beginning June 22. France will face Iraq on that date, followed by Portugal on June 26. Senegal opens against Portugal on June 22 and then meets Iraq on June 26.

Tuesday’s match is expected to test each squad’s depth and tactical preparations, with several regular starters likely to see limited minutes as coaches manage fitness. France, the 2018 World Cup champion, boasts a deep roster, while Senegal — a quarterfinalist in 2022 — relies on a compact defense and quick counterattacks.

Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. local time.
