MURCIA, Spain (Dec. 18, 2025) (Interstat) — Real Betis Balompié defeated Real Murcia CF 2-0 on Thursday in a Copa del Rey match at Estadio Enrique Roca de Murcia. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored the home side.

Betis broke a scoreless deadlock in the 85th minute when goalkeeper Diego Piñeiro scored. Substitute Cucho Hernández, who assisted on that goal, later added one of his own to secure the victory. Hernández, Natan and Nelson Deossa each received yellow cards in a two-minute span late in the first half.

The win gives Betis a 1-0 record in the competition, while Murcia falls to 0-1. Interstat’s pregame simulator had projected a 1-0 Betis win, though its ELO system gave Murcia a 65.3% probability to win.
