Ethnikos Achna vs Aris

DASAKI ACHNAS, Cyprus (Interstat) — Andronikos Kakoulli scored twice in the first half to propel Aris to a commanding 3-0 victory over Ethnikos Achna in a 1. Division match on Saturday at Stadio Dasaki Achnas.

The result, which defied pregame statistical projections, solidified Aris’s position near the top of the Cypriot league table while extending Ethnikos Achna’s struggles in a difficult season.

Aris needed only eight minutes to take control. Kakoulli found the net early, setting a dominant tone for the visiting side. He doubled his tally and Aris’s lead in the 26th minute, effectively putting the game out of reach before the halftime whistle. The early goals silenced the home supporters and dismantled the pregame forecasts, which had given Ethnikos Achna a slight probability edge to win.

The home team, Ethnikos Achna, offered little in response throughout the contest, failing to capitalize on any possession and rarely testing the Aris goalkeeper. The match was a stark contrast to the prediction by Interstat’s game simulator, which had projected a 1-1 draw.

Any lingering hope for a miraculous Ethnikos Achna comeback was extinguished in the 82nd minute when Aris substitute Rody Effaghe added a third goal, sealing a comprehensive away performance. The final whistle confirmed Aris’s third clean sheet in its last four domestic league matches.

The victory improves Aris’s impressive 1. Division record to nine wins, four losses and one draw, maintaining its strong standing in the competition. The club’s form across all competitions this season now stands at 13 wins, five losses and three draws. The win also served as a positive rebound from Aris’s previous league outing, a 1-0 loss to AE Olympiakos Lefkosias on Jan. 4.

For Ethnikos Achna, the defeat deepens a season of frustration. The club’s record in the 1. Division fell to just two wins against 10 losses, and its overall record across all competitions worsened to three wins and 11 losses. The team has now lost four consecutive matches in all competitions and has been shut out in three of its last four outings.

Aris will look to carry this momentum into its next fixture, a Cypriot Cup match against Aris Lemesou on Wednesday. Ethnikos Achna faces a lengthy break from league action, with its next 1. Division match not scheduled until Feb. 27 against Omonia Aradippou, providing a prolonged period to address its form.
