Vreden vs ASC Dortmund

Preview: Vreden Hosts ASC Dortmund in Oberliga Westfalen Clash

VREDEN, Germany (Interstat) — ASC Dortmund will look to rebound from a shutout loss when it visits Vreden in an Oberliga Westfalen fixture on Sunday.

The match, part of Germany’s fifth-tier league, kicks off at 2 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) on Dec. 7.

ASC Dortmund (5-5) enters on the heels of a 2-0 home defeat to Wattenscheid 09 last Saturday. That result snapped a run of inconsistent form for the visitors, who had a 5-1 victory over Victoria Clarholz on Nov. 15 but also suffered a 4-2 home loss to Erkenschwick earlier in November. Their road record is mixed, with a 3-0 win at Schermbeck in October but a 1-0 loss at Lippstadt 08 this month.

Vreden (3-6-3) comes in after a 2-2 draw at Schermbeck last Sunday. The home side has struggled for consistency, with its last win a 2-0 victory over Gievenbeck on Oct. 12. A concerning trend for Vreden is its defense, which conceded four goals in a loss to Westfalia Rhynern on Nov. 22 and six in a defeat to Arminia Bielefeld on Nov. 9. However, they have proven capable at home, including a 1-0 win over R-W Ahlen on Oct. 5.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, ASC Dortmund is projected to earn a 2-1 victory.

The Oberliga Westfalen is one of several regional leagues that form the fifth level of the German football pyramid.
