Kowloon City DSA Upsets Favored Eastern in Hong Kong Premier League Opener
KOWLOON (Interstat) — Kowloon City DSA opened its Hong Kong Premier League season with a 2-1 upset victory over Eastern on Sunday at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground. The result defied pre-match projections that heavily favored the visitors.
Eastern entered with a 74.6% win probability according to Interstat’s ELO system, which also projected a 2-1 victory for Eastern. Kowloon City DSA reversed that script. Yu Ōkubo put the home side ahead in the 20th minute. Eastern’s Kessi equalized in the 50th, but Kayron answered just five minutes later with the decisive goal for Kowloon City DSA.
The win gives Kowloon City DSA a 1-0 start in league play, while Eastern begins its campaign 0-1.
