AP SPORTS PREVIEW: KF DRITA HOSTS PRISHTINA IN KEY KOSOVO SUPERLIGA CLASH

PRISTINA, Kosovo (Interstat) — A pivotal Kosovo Superliga match sees second-place KF Drita host third-place Prishtina on Wednesday in a rare Christmas Eve fixture that could reshape the top of the table.

The showdown at Gjilan City Stadium pits two title contenders in strong recent form, though a tight contest is expected. The Interstat game simulator projects a 1-1 draw.

Drita (8-5-3) enters unbeaten in its last four matches but has drawn three of those, including a 1-1 result at Malisheva on Sunday. Manager Ardijan Nuhiu will seek more clinical finishing from a squad that has shown both resilience and offensive firepower. Key attacker Drilon Musaj remains a constant threat, but defensive consistency has been an issue, with the team conceding in eight straight league matches.

Prishtina (9-2-5) arrives with momentum after a hard-fought 2-1 home victory over KF Drenica Skend on Saturday. That win snapped a brief two-game skid that included a 3-1 loss to league leaders FC Ballkani and a surprising 4-1 defeat to KF Prishtina e Re. Manager Zekirija Ramadani’s side has been potent on the road this season, boasting a league-best away record. Striker Gentian Muça, who scored in the reverse fixture, leads a dynamic attack.

The season’s first meeting ended in a thrilling 3-2 victory for Drita on Sept. 14, underscoring the narrow margins between these clubs.

For Drita, a win is essential to keep pace with Ballkani at the summit. Another draw, however, would feel like missed opportunity on home soil. Prishtina aims to close the current four-point gap with Drita and leapfrog them in the standings with a victory.

Tactically, the match features a contrast. Prishtina’s direct, vertical approach will test Drita’s sometimes-vulnerable back line. Drita prefers a more possession-based build-up, looking to exploit spaces with wide play. The midfield battle, particularly between Drita’s orchestrator Leotrim Bekteshi and Prishtina’s combative Alban Shillova, could decide the contest.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. local time at Gjilan City Stadium. With both teams in the championship chase and separated by mere points, this holiday fixture promises high stakes and intense rivalry.
