SANTIAGO, Chile (Interstat) — Palestino and Huachipato played to a 2-2 draw Friday in the Chilean Primera División opener for both clubs at Estadio Municipal de La Cisterna.

Huachipato substitute Cris Martínez opened the scoring in the 18th minute, but Palestino forward Joe Abrigo leveled just before halftime. Substitute Brayan Garrido put Huachipato ahead again in the 82nd, only for Palestino’s Junior Arias to equalize deep in stoppage time. The result defied pre-match projections that heavily favored Palestino.

Four players received yellow cards in a match where both teams showed resilience after falling behind. The draw leaves each club with an identical record across all competitions to start the season.
