Inter Miami Opens Season With Dominant Win Over Vancouver

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Interstat) — Inter Miami opened its Major League Soccer season with a decisive 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday at Chase Stadium.

Substitute Édier Ocampo opened the scoring in the eighth minute and later added an assist. Vancouver’s Ali Ahmed equalized on the hour mark, but Inter Miami responded with a 71st-minute goal from Rodrigo de Paul, who also had an assist. Tadeo Allende sealed the win in stoppage time.

The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which had simulated a 2-1 Vancouver win despite giving Inter Miami an 87.6% probability to win. The match featured 11 yellow cards. Inter Miami begins the season 1-0, while Vancouver starts 0-1.
