SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — A high-powered Liga Puerto Rico showdown is set for Saturday as Metropolitan visits Acad Quintana in a rematch of their early-season shootout.

Metropolitan (9-2-0) enters the match riding momentum from a 2-1 midweek victory over Puerto Rico Surf. Their potent attack, which has produced 48 goals this season, was on full display in the last meeting with Acad Quintana, a 5-3 win on Sept. 28. Despite a 1-0 loss to Ponce FC on Nov. 8, Metropolitan’s form has been dominant, including an 11-0 rout of San Juan.

Acad Quintana (8-2-2) counters with an offense that has been equally explosive, coming off a staggering 8-1 win over San Juan on Nov. 8. Their only blemish in the last two months was a 2-2 draw with Ponce FC, but they have otherwise been relentless, highlighted by a 16-1 victory over Mayaguez.

The matchup pits the league’s two most formidable attacks. Both teams have shown defensive vulnerabilities, however, setting the stage for another potential goal-fest. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Metropolitan is projected to edge out a 2-1 victory in what promises to be a tightly contested battle for supremacy.
