Puerto Rico Surf vs Mayaguez
MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — Puerto Rico Surf will look to continue its dominance over a struggling Mayaguez side when the Liga Puerto Rico rivals meet again on Saturday.
The matchup comes less than two months after the Surf (6-4-2) delivered a decisive 5-0 victory over Mayaguez (1-8-2) on Sept. 27. That lopsided result is indicative of the teams’ contrasting fortunes this season.
Puerto Rico Surf enters the contest in strong form, having won three of its last five matches, including a 2-0 victory over Caguas Sporting on Nov. 8. Its most recent outing was a narrow 2-1 road loss to Metropolitan on Nov. 12.
Mayaguez, meanwhile, is mired in a deep slump. The team has been outscored 34-1 in its last four games, including a 3-1 home loss to DS Edusoccer on Nov. 13 and a historic 16-1 defeat to Acad Quintana in October. Its last positive result was a 3-3 draw with Guayama on Nov. 2.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Puerto Rico Surf 4, Mayaguez 0, underscoring the stark difference in quality between the two clubs. The Surf will be heavily favored to secure another convincing win on their home pitch.
