Levante vs Real Sociedad
Preview: Levante Hosts Real Sociedad in La Liga Clash
VALENCIA, Spain (Interstat) — Two sides seeking to reverse recent slides will meet Saturday when Levante hosts Real Sociedad in a La Liga match at the Estadi Ciutat de València.
The matchup comes at the end of a calendar year where both teams have struggled for consistency. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the contest is projected to end in a 1-1 draw.
Real Sociedad (W-D-L) arrives having lost two consecutive league matches. It fell 2-1 at home to Girona on Dec. 12 and suffered a 1-0 defeat at Deportivo Alavés on Dec. 6. Prior to that, its form was mixed, with a notable 3-2 home loss to Villarreal on Nov. 30 balanced by a 3-1 away win at Osasuna on Nov. 22. The team has shown attacking capability but recent results highlight defensive vulnerabilities.
Levante (W-D-L), meanwhile, is mired in a more prolonged slump. It has lost four of its last five La Liga outings, most recently a 2-0 defeat at Osasuna on Dec. 8. Preceding losses came against Athletic Bilbao (2-0), Valencia (1-0) and Atlético Madrid (3-1). Its last league victory was a 2-0 win at Real Oviedo on Oct. 4. A 4-3 Copa del Rey win over lower-tier Orihuela on Oct. 30 provides a rare recent bright spot.
The historical context adds intrigue. In their last meeting, Real Sociedad earned a decisive victory. Current form suggests another tight encounter, with both managers likely emphasizing defensive solidity to halt negative streaks.
A draw would offer little for either side in the mid-table standings but could provide a foundation for the new year. Real Sociedad visits Atlético Madrid on Jan. 4, while Levante travels to face Sevilla the same day.
Saturday’s kickoff is set for a local time to be announced. The match will be broadcast globally on La Liga’s international partners.
