SAO PAULO (Interstat) — EC Bahia hosts Sport Recife on Wednesday in a Brazilian Serie A match, with the visitors seeking to reverse a dire run of form.

The teams last played to a scoreless draw on Aug. 2 in Recife. Since that match, Sport Recife has plummeted into crisis, failing to win in 10 consecutive league games. Its most recent result was a 3-0 road loss to Santos on Friday, part of a stretch where it has conceded 29 goals.

Bahia’s form has been stronger, with three wins and a draw in its four most recent matches logged, including a 3-0 victory over Juventude in late July. The club has not played a competitive match since the August draw with Recife, however, making recent form difficult to gauge.

The match is critical for Sport Recife’s survival hopes. It will face Gremio on Sunday. Bahia’s next match is at Fluminense, also on Sunday.
