Gremio vs Fluminense

RIO DE JANEIRO (Interstat) — A pivotal late-season Brazilian Serie A clash is set for Tuesday when Gremio hosts Fluminense at the Arena do Gremio in Porto Alegre.

The matchup features two sides entering with significant momentum. Fluminense (15-8-9) is soaring after a stunning 6-0 demolition of Sao Paulo last Thursday. That victory extended their unbeaten run to five matches. Gremio (14-7-11) is also in strong form, coming off a dramatic 3-2 victory over league-leading Palmeiras on Nov. 25.

The recent head-to-head record suggests a tight contest. In their two meetings this season, Fluminense won 1-0 at home on Aug. 2, following a 1-1 draw in Porto Alegre on June 6.

Fluminense’s attack, led by Jhon Arias, has been potent, scoring 10 goals in its last four matches. Gremio’s attack, however, has been inconsistent, blanked in three of its last seven outings despite the high-scoring win over Palmeiras.

According to a projection by Interstat, the match is expected to end in a 2-2 draw. The result could have major implications in the tightly-contested Serie A table as the season enters its final weeks.
