RB Leipzig W vs Hoffenheim W
LEIPZIG, Germany (Interstat) — Substitute Valesca Ampoorter delivered a goal and an assist to spark a second-half comeback, lifting Hoffenheim W to a 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig W in a Frauen-Bundesliga match on Sunday.
The visitors erased a one-goal halftime deficit with two quick strikes early in the second half at Trainingszentrum RB Leipzig Platz 1, securing a winning start to their league campaign.
Hoffenheim, which had been projected by analytics firm Interstat with a 62.8% probability to win, improved its season record to one win and no losses in Bundesliga play. RB Leipzig begins the season with one loss and no wins. The simulator had projected a 2-2 draw.
The match began in promising fashion for the home side. RB Leipzig’s Emilía Ásgeirsdóttir opened the scoring in the 25th minute, finishing a move to give her team the lead. Hoffenheim’s Ampoorter, who entered the game as a substitute, provided an immediate response just after the halftime break. She found the net in the 56th minute to level the score at 1-1.
Ampoorter turned creator just six minutes later. Her play set up fellow substitute Laura Gloning, who scored in the 62nd minute to complete the turnaround and put Hoffenheim ahead 2-1.
The momentum swung decisively in a frantic two-minute span. RB Leipzig’ Gina-Maria Chmielinski, a midfielder, responded almost instantly, scoring in the 64th minute to pull the hosts even at 2-2. However, Hoffenheim reclaimed the lead for good in the 80th minute when another substitute, Selina Cerci, scored the decisive goal to make it 3-2.
The match featured late disciplinary actions. Hoffenheim’s Jill Janssens, also a substitute who recorded an assist, received a yellow card in the 66th minute. Ampoorter was booked in the 90th minute as the visitors managed the final stages to seal the three points.
The result underscores the impact of Hoffenheim’s bench, with all three of its goals and two assists coming from substitutes. Ampoorter’s performance was particularly pivotal in altering the course of the match after her introduction.
The Frauen-Bundesliga fixture, played on Dec. 14, 2025, marked the first league match for both teams in the German top-flight women’s competition this season. With the victory, Hoffenheim W also improved its overall record across all competitions to one win and no losses, while RB Leipzig W stands at one loss and no wins.
