Cal Poly W at Stanford W

STANFORD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Stanford women’s soccer team maintained its undefeated season Friday night, dispatching the Cal Poly Mustangs 3-1 in an NCAA match at Cagan Stadium.

A balanced offensive attack propelled the Cardinal, as three different players found the net in the victory. Charlotte Kohler, Joelle Jung and Shae Harvey each scored a goal for Stanford, while Andrea Kitahata and Jasmine Aikey provided assists in the match played before a crowd of 1,920.

The result extended Stanford’s remarkable run of form. The Cardinal now sit at 13 wins, no losses and four draws this season across all competitions. Cal Poly’s record moved to five wins, three losses and five draws.

The final score aligned with the pregame projection from Interstat, whose game simulator had predicted a 3-1 Stanford victory. The same analytics system gave Stanford a 79.40 percent probability of winning the contest.

Stanford’s control of the game was evident as the Cardinal methodically built its lead. The Mustangs, coming off a 1-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara earlier in the week, struggled to contain Stanford’s multifaceted offense.

The match saw frequent substitutions from both sides as the coaches managed their lineups. Stanford made a double change in the 24th minute, and Cal Poly responded with its own pair of substitutions just after the half-hour mark. The most significant flurry of activity came just after the 72-minute mark, when Stanford made six substitutions in a single sequence, cycling fresh legs onto the pitch to see out the game.

Cal Poly’s season has been marked by tight results, including draws against San Diego, BYU, Nevada, Seattle and San Jose State. Their most recent result before Friday was a narrow 1-0 win over UC Santa Barbara.

Stanford, meanwhile, continues its pursuit of a perfect season. The Cardinal’s last outing was a 2-2 draw with Notre Dame, and the team has secured high-scoring victories against formidable opponents like Virginia, Florida State and Southern California throughout the fall.

The win reinforces Stanford’s position as a dominant force in collegiate women’s soccer as the team navigates the latter stages of its schedule. Cal Poly will look to rebound in its next fixture as it continues its season.
