Maine W at UCF W

ORLANDO, Fla. (Interstat) — The UCF Knights women’s soccer team defeated the Maine Black Bears 2-0 in a non-conference match on Friday night.

The game, organized by the NCAA, drew an attendance of 1,132 to the UCF Soccer Complex.

The Knights’ offense was powered by a pair of first-half goals, effectively putting the game out of reach for the visiting Black Bears. Midfielder Hannah Boughton and forward Rajanah Reed each found the net for UCF. The Knights’ defensive unit, anchored by Guta Franke, played a pivotal role in the victory. Franke, a defender, recorded two assists, while midfielder Honoka Hamano and forward Liz Worden each contributed one assist.

UCF controlled the match from the outset, and the statistical projections from Interstat proved conservative. The organization’s game simulator had projected a 1-0 UCF victory, while its ELO system gave the Knights a 77.3 percent probability to win.

The victory improves UCF’s record to 10 wins, 2 losses and 3 draws this season. The Knights entered the match having suffered a 3-2 road loss to Colorado on Nov. 3 but had otherwise been in strong form, losing only once in their previous ten outings.

Maine’s record falls to 4 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw. The Black Bears had won two straight, including a 2-1 victory over New Hampshire on Nov. 2, but were unable to generate offense against a stout UCF defense.

Both teams utilized their benches extensively throughout the contest. Maine made its first substitutions in the 26th minute, removing Amanda Clauzel and Jordane Pinette. UCF began rotating players shortly after, with substitutions for Tyra Eriksen and Ainsley Moy in the 28th minute. A flurry of changes occurred at halftime, with UCF making four substitutions and Maine making two. The player rotation continued through the second half as UCF managed its lead.

The match was a standalone fixture for both squads as they conclude their regular season schedules.
