Dartmouth W at Arkansas W
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Interstat) — Vailana Tu’ua scored the game’s only goal in the first half to lift the Arkansas women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Dartmouth on Friday night in an NCAA interconference match.
A crowd of 1,158 at Razorback Field saw the Razorbacks improve their record to 10-3-2. The Big Green fell to 7-4-1.
The decisive play came early in the match. Midfielder Natalie Wagner assisted on Tu’ua’s goal, providing the offensive spark for Arkansas. Wagner was later shown a yellow card in the contest.
The match was characterized by frequent substitutions, particularly from the Arkansas side, which made 20 changes throughout the game. The first substitution occurred in the 24th minute when Dartmouth’s Emmanuella Frimpomaa was replaced. Arkansas began a steady rotation of its lineup shortly after, with key contributors Tu’ua and Wagner both being subbed out in the 33rd minute and again later in the second half.
The result defied the projection from Interstat’s game simulator, which had forecast a 1-1 draw. The same service’s ELO system, however, had given Arkansas a 68.1 percent probability of winning.
The win extends a strong run of form for the Razorbacks, who entered the match having won three of their last four outings, including a 3-1 victory over Oklahoma in their previous contest on Oct. 26. Their defense secured its first shutout since a scoreless draw at Missouri on Oct. 19.
For Dartmouth, the loss snaps a two-game winning streak. The Big Green had defeated Columbia and Princeton by identical 1-0 scores in their two most recent matches prior to Friday’s contest.
Arkansas will look to build on the victory as it continues its season. Dartmouth will aim to rebound in its next fixture.
