SAVANNAKHET, Laos (Interstat) — Champasak Avenir FC opened its Lao League season with a stunning 7-0 rout of Savannakhet on Sunday at Savannakhet Stadium. The visitors far exceeded statistical projections, which had given them a 62.8% win probability and forecast a 3-1 victory.

Kouaycheng Nouphakdy opened the scoring in the 16th minute. The match became a blowout after halftime, with Phetvixay Phimmasen scoring three times, including two late goals in the 89th minute and second-minute of stoppage time. Lee Jeongjin also scored as Champasak Avenir FC netted six second-half goals. The victory gives Champasak Avenir FC a 1-0 start to the league campaign, while Savannakhet begins 0-1.
