PAOLA, Malta (Interstat) — A 57th-minute goal from Cleiton gave Hibernians a 1-0 victory over Tarxien Rainbows in a Malta Premier League match Friday at Tony Bezzina Stadium. The decisive strike broke a deadlock in a contest where the visiting Rainbows struggled to generate offense. The win moves Hibernians to a .500 record in league play at 4-4-4, while Tarxien Rainbows’ difficult season continues as they fall to 1-7-2. The result defied a pregame statistical projection that heavily favored Hibernians to win by a much larger margin. Hibernians will next host Zabbar St. Patrick on Thursday, while Tarxien Rainbows visit Gzira Utd next Friday.
