HERACLES ALMELO HOSTS HZVV HOOGEVEEN IN KNVB BEKER WOMEN’S CUP ACTION

HOGEVEEN, Netherlands (Interstat) — A high-scoring HZVV Hoogeveen side will look to continue its cup run against Eredivisie Women opponent Heracles Almelo in the KNVB Beker Women on Tuesday.

The match at Erve Asito in Almelo pits a third-tier Hoogeveen team on a prolific offensive streak against a top-flight Heracles squad coming off a dominant league victory.

Hoogeveen enters the contest having won four consecutive matches, all in cup competition, while averaging 4.25 goals per game in that span. Its most recent result was a 1-0 home victory over FC Emmen on Oct. 28. Previous rounds saw Hoogeveen outlast VV Scherpenzeel 4-3 on Sept. 23 and defeat FC Aalsmeer 4-2 on Sept. 2, following a 6-1 first-round win over Velocitas 1897.

Heracles Almelo, which competes in the Netherlands’ premier women’s division, is favored. It advanced to this round with a convincing 4-1 away victory over NAC Breda Women on Oct. 29.

The matchup represents a significant challenge for Hoogeveen, marking its first encounter this season against an Eredivisie Women club. Heracles will be expected to control possession and leverage its professional structure, but must contain a Hoogeveen attack that has shown a consistent ability to find the net.
