Oldham Athletic vs Accring Stanley

OLDHAM, England (Interstat) — Oldham Athletic will host Accrington Stanley on Saturday, May 2, in a League Two fixture at Boundary Park, with both sides desperate to improve their recent fortunes.

Oldham (10th in the table) enter the match after a 3-2 defeat at Newport County on April 25. That loss extended a run of inconsistency for the Latics, who have won five of their past 10 league matches but lost four. Manager Micky Mellon’s side has struggled to find defensive stability, conceding three goals in each of their past two away games.

Accrington Stanley (14th) arrive off a 2-2 draw at Swindon Town on April 18, a result that snapped a four-match losing streak. The Reds have won only two of their last 11 league outings — a 4-1 victory over Newport County on Jan. 27 and a 1-0 win at Tranmere Rovers on Feb. 17. Since then, they have gone eight matches without a win, managing just two draws.

The head-to-head record between the sides this season is noteworthy: both meetings occurred on the same day, Aug. 5, 2025. Accrington won 3-1 at home, and Oldham won 3-1 at home — each team prevailing on its own ground. That sets the stage for a potential away advantage, though Oldham’s home form has been mixed.

Oldham’s recent home results include a 3-0 victory over Notts County on March 24 but also a 2-1 defeat to Salford City on April 18. Accrington’s road form has been poor: they have lost six of their last eight away games, with the only bright spot being a 0-0 draw at Barrow on March 14.

Injury concerns could influence lineups. Oldham forward Josh Stones has been in fine form, scoring three goals in his past four appearances. Accrington’s top scorer, forward Jack Nolan, has seven goals this season but has gone five games without a goal.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the match is projected to end in a 1-1 draw. Both teams will view that as a fair result given their current trajectories, but each will also see an opportunity to claim a vital three points.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time. The match will be officiated by referee Thomas Kirk.
