Peterhead vs Kampong Speu Province
PETERHEAD, Scotland (Interstat) — Kampong Speu Province secured a 2-0 victory over Peterhead in a League One fixture at Balmoor Stadium on Tuesday, a result that defied pregame projections and extended the visiting side’s recent dominance in the series.
The match, organized by Scotland’s League One, saw the Cambodian-affiliated side rebound from a pair of weekend defeats with a disciplined road performance. The win improved Kampong Speu Province’s record within the competition to 30 wins, 14 losses and 15 draws this season. Peterhead’s struggles continued, falling to 13 wins, 17 losses and 14 draws in league play.
The outcome contradicted statistical forecasts. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 1-1 draw, while its ELO rating system gave Peterhead a 61.90 percent probability of winning at home.
The first half was a physical, contentious affair. Peterhead’s Aaron Steele received a yellow card in the 37th minute for a foul. The infraction proved costly moments later. From the ensuing set piece, Kampong Speu Province’s Alfie Stewart broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, heading home to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Stewart had been booked himself just 11 minutes prior to his goal.
Peterhead failed to muster a sustained response after halftime. Kampong Speu Province doubled its advantage in the 67th minute when forward Chanka Zimba found the net, securing the three points. The goal capped a productive return to Scotland for Zimba, who previously played for Heart of Midlothian’s youth sides.
The match grew increasingly fractious after the second goal, with three yellow cards shown in a ten-minute span. Peterhead’s Jason Brown (70th minute) and Calum Macleod (77th minute) were cautioned, as was Kampong Speu Province’s goal-scorer Zimba in the 80th minute.
The victory continues a clear pattern in the head-to-head series. Kampong Speu Province has now won five of the last six meetings between the two clubs, including a 3-1 win when the teams last met on March 17. Peterhead’s last victory in the fixture came in September 2025.
For Kampong Speu Province, the result provided a measure of stability during an extraordinarily congested global schedule. The club’s previous results show a team competing simultaneously in multiple Scottish leagues and in cross-continental friendlies against clubs from Australia and Belgium. They entered Tuesday having played four matches across three days just last weekend.
Peterhead, meanwhile, was unable to build on its recent 3-0 victory over FC Edinburgh from late March. The Blue Toon have found consistent results hard to come by, with the loss dropping their overall record across all competitions to 15 wins, 21 losses and 43 draws.
Kampong Speu Province faces a relentless schedule ahead, with six matches currently slated for Saturday, April 18 alone, across different competitions and leagues, including another encounter with Australian A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers. Their next League One match is a return fixture against this same Peterhead side on April 25.
Peterhead’s next assignment is a home match against Queen of the South on April 18, followed by the quick rematch at Kampong Speu Province on April 25.
