Blackpool Routs Carlisle United in FA Cup Stunner
BLACKPOOL, England (Interstat) — Blackpool delivered a dominant 4-1 victory over Carlisle United in the FA Cup on Sunday, decisively outperforming pregame projections.
Playing at Bloomfield Road, the home side overwhelmed the visitors with a rapid first-half attack. Tom Bloxham opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Ashley Fletcher then netted the first of his two goals in the 34th, followed quickly by a Scott Banks strike in the 38th.
Substitute Luke Armstrong pulled one back for Carlisle in the 51st, but Fletcher sealed the match with his second goal six minutes later. The result defied statistical models that heavily favored Carlisle United. Blackpool advances in the competition while Carlisle United exits.
