SAO PAULO (Interstat) — Palmeiras and Fluminense played to a 0-0 draw on Saturday in a Carioca Série A match at Allianz Parque. The result defied projections, as statistical models heavily favored the home side. The defensive stalemate saw few clear chances, with both teams earning their first draw of the young season across all competitions. Substitute Facundo Bernal provided a key assist for Palmeiras, while fellow sub Juan Freytes also recorded an assist for Fluminense in the tightly contested midfield battle. The match was marred by five yellow cards, including two in second-half stoppage time.
