Substitutes Lead Pyramids to Season-Opening Victory

AL-MAHALLA AL-KUBRA, Egypt (Interstat) — Pyramids opened its Egyptian Premier League season with a 3-1 road victory over Ghazl El Mahalla SC on Tuesday at El Mahalla Stadium.

All three Pyramids goals came from substitutes. Naser Maher opened the scoring in the 25th minute. After Ghazl El Mahalla’s Peter Sunday equalized four minutes later, Mostafa Fathy put Pyramids ahead for good just before halftime. Fiston Mayele sealed the win with a stoppage-time goal.

The result defied a pregame projection that forecast a draw. Pyramids began its league campaign with a win, while the hosts started with a loss. The match featured eight yellow cards, with six shown in a contentious first half.
