Bayern Munich vs Augsburg

BAYERN MUNICH HOSTS AUGSBURG IN BAVARIAN DERBY

MUNICH (Interstat) — Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich aims to continue its dominant domestic form when it hosts regional rival Augsburg on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at the Allianz Arena.

The match is a stark contrast in momentum. Bayern Munich (14-2-1) enters on a blistering run, having outscored its last three league opponents 16-3. That includes a 5-1 demolition of RB Leipzig on Jan. 17 and an 8-1 victory over Wolfsburg on Jan. 11. The Bavarian powerhouse has not lost since a draw with Union Berlin on Nov. 8.

Augsburg (3-6-8), meanwhile, is mired in a winless slump. The Fuggerstädter have not secured a Bundesliga victory since a shocking 2-0 upset of Bayer Leverkusen on Dec. 6. Their form has dipped further in the new year, with a draw against Union Berlin and a 4-0 loss to Borussia Mönchengladbach preceding a 2-2 draw with second-division side Freiburg II in a cup match on Jan. 18.

The head-to-head history heavily favors the hosts. In their last meeting on Aug. 30, 2025, Bayern Munich needed a late goal to secure a 3-2 away victory. Bayern has won the last 12 consecutive Bundesliga meetings between the clubs.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for Bayern Munich.

Augsburg manager Jess Thorup faces a daunting task to shore up a defense that has conceded multiple goals in four of its last five matches across all competitions. Bayern’s attack, led by the in-form Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala, will be expected to exploit those vulnerabilities.

For Bayern, manager Julian Nagelsmann may rotate his squad with a tight fixture schedule ahead, including a derby against Borussia Dortmund on Feb. 28. However, maintaining its substantial lead atop the table remains the immediate priority.

Following this match, Augsburg faces a quick turnaround with a league game at Hoffenheim on Sunday, Jan. 25. Bayern Munich’s next Bundesliga fixture is at Hamburger SV II on Jan. 31.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. local time (1430 GMT).
