ZOMIN, Uzbekistan (Interstat) — Bunyodkor opened its season with a 2-0 upset victory over PFK So’g’diyona in the Uzbekistan Super League on Saturday. The visiting side defied pre-game projections that heavily favored the hosts at Markaziy Stadion. Asadbek Rahimjonov broke the scoreless tie just before halftime with a goal in the 45th minute. Imeda Ashortia added an insurance goal for Bunyodkor in the 61st minute to secure the win. The result was a surprise after statistical models gave PFK So’g’diyona a 72.8 percent probability to win and projected a 1-1 draw.
