MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — Two struggling Liga Puerto Rico sides will meet Thursday when Mayaguez hosts DS Edusoccer.

The match pits teams at the bottom of the table, with Mayaguez at 2-6 and DS Edusoccer at 3-9 in league play. Both clubs hold identical records across all competitions this season.

The visitors will look to build on a rare victory, a 4-1 home win over Guayama on Nov. 8 that snapped a five-game losing streak. Prior to that, DS Edusoccer was outscored 26-3 in that skid, including a 9-1 defeat to Acad Quintana.

Mayaguez enters on a four-match winless run, most recently falling 2-0 to Escuela de Futbol Taurinos de Cayey on Nov. 9. Their season has been marred by heavy losses, including an 11-0 road defeat and a 16-1 loss at home.

In their last head-to-head meeting on Sept. 10, Mayaguez routed DS Edusoccer 5-2. According to Interstat’s game simulator, a similar result is expected, projecting a 3-2 victory for the home side.

Kickoff is set for Thursday night in Mayaguez.
