Nice vs FC Metz
NICE, France (Interstat) — Nice will look to rebound from a narrow defeat when they host FC Metz on Sunday, May 17, in a Ligue 1 matchup at Allianz Riviera.
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time.
Nice enters the contest after a 2-1 loss at Auxerre on May 10, a result that snapped a brief unbeaten run. Prior to that, the side drew 1-1 with Racing Club de Lens on May 2 and 1-1 with Marseille on April 26. Overall, Nice has struggled for consistency in recent weeks, with just one win in their last six matches — a 2-0 victory over Angers on March 14.
FC Metz arrives on a five-match losing streak, most recently a 4-0 thrashing at home by Lorient on May 10. That defeat extended a miserable slide that includes losses to AS Monaco (2-1 on May 2), Paris FC (3-1 on April 19), Stade Rennais (1-0 on March 22) and Toulouse (4-3 on March 15). Metz has not won since a 2-1 home victory over Nice on Nov. 9, 2025 — the most recent meeting between the clubs.
In that encounter, Metz overcame a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1, handing Nice one of its more frustrating defeats of the season. That result gave Metz a 1-0 edge in the season series, with no draws.
Metz’s away form has been particularly poor. They have lost seven of their last 10 road matches in all competitions, managing just two draws and one win — the Nov. 9 triumph over Nice. Their last away victory before that came on Feb. 1, 2025, against Angers.
Nice has been more solid at home, though not dominant. They have only two losses in their last 10 home league matches, with four wins and four draws. However, scoring has been an issue: Nice has been held scoreless in four of their last five home games, including a 0-0 draw with Toulouse on April 19 and a 0-0 stalemate with Lille on April 18.
Defensively, Nice has shown signs of vulnerability, conceding four goals to PSG on March 21 and four to Rennes on March 8. But they have also kept three clean sheets in their last eight matches.
Metz’s attack has sputtered, scoring just twice in their last five games and failing to find the net in four of those contests. Their defense has leaked 12 goals over that same span.
An Interstat game simulator projects a 3-0 victory for Nice.
Kickoff weather is forecast to be mild, with temperatures around 18 degrees Celsius and clear skies.
