(Interstat) — Jessie Halladay scored the game’s only goal to lift the Cal Poly women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara in the Big West Championship final on Monday. The win avenged a regular-season loss for the Mustangs (5-2-4). Annika Smith and Ava Mirelez were credited with assists on the decisive play. The Gauchos (7-2-3), who were favored to win, were shut out for just the second time this season. An announced crowd of 481 at the championship site watched Cal Poly claim the conference title.
