NORMAL, Ill. (Interstat) — The Illinois State Redbirds and Illinois-Chicago Flames played to a 0-0 draw in an NCAA women’s soccer match on Sunday.

The defensive stalemate at Illinois State’s home field saw neither team break through despite numerous substitutions. The result marks the second consecutive scoreless draw between the two programs, following an identical result on Oct. 19.

The Flames move to 7-6-6 overall and in conference play. The Redbirds are now 7-3-7 across all competitions. The outcome defied a pregame statistical projection that heavily favored Illinois State to win.
