LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (Interstat) — The Rice Owls and South Florida Bulls played to a 0-0 draw in the NCAA women’s American Championship final on Thursday.

Despite a pregame projection favoring the Owls, neither team could break through in a match defined by defensive stands and numerous substitutions. The game was a rematch of an Oct. 12 contest, which Rice won 3-1.

The draw leaves Rice’s record at 7-1-3, while South Florida moves to 3-6-2. An announced crowd of 279 watched the stalemate at Lakewood Ranch.
