Bakken’s Brace Powers Dayton to Decisive Victory Over VCU
DAYTON, Ohio (Interstat) — Martin Bakken scored twice to lead the Dayton Flyers to a 4-2 victory over the VCU Rams in an NCAA men’s soccer match Friday at Baujan Field.
Bakken, a midfielder, went the full 90 minutes for the Flyers, who improved to 5-1-3. Andrew Armstrong added a goal and an assist for Dayton in front of a crowd of 577. The teams had played to a scoreless draw in their previous meeting on Sept. 21.
The loss drops VCU to an even 4-4-4 on the season. The Flyers’ offense outperformed projections from Interstat, which gave Dayton a 68.5% chance to win but simulated a 1-0 final score.
