SAO JOAO DA VENDA, Portugal (Interstat) — Denmark and Portugal played to a 2-2 draw in a UEFA Under-19 Championship qualification match Tuesday at Estádio Algarve.

Denmark led twice. Nikoline Nielsen opened the scoring in the 11th minute and defender Emilie Holt added another in the 43rd. Portugal rallied in the second half with two goals from substitutes. Cristina Fernandes scored in the 63rd minute before Rita Melo equalized eight minutes later.

The result left both teams with identical records in the qualifying group: no wins, no losses and one draw. The match defied pre-game projections, which heavily favored Denmark to win. Denmark’s Carli Moesgaard and Andrea Termansen each received first-half yellow cards.
