QUITO, Ecuador (Interstat) — Macara opened its Liga Pro season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Emelec on Sunday at Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa. The home side’s midfield controlled the match, with Federico Paz, Ángel Ledesma and Janpol Morales each scoring a goal. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that forecast a 1-1 draw. Emelec played a man down after Diogo Osmar Bagüí received a red card in the 37th minute. The loss marks a disappointing start to the campaign for Emelec, while Macara begins the season with a perfect record.
