SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — A top-of-the-table clash in the Liga Puerto Rico will see first-place Puerto Rico Surf visit second-place Ponce FC on Saturday.

The matchup at Ponce’s home ground pits the league’s two most dominant teams this season. Puerto Rico Surf enters the contest with an 8-2-1 league record, sitting just above Ponce FC, which holds a 7-2-0 mark. Both teams carry identical overall records across all competitions.

The visitors are in formidable form, having won three consecutive matches since a 2-2 draw with Acad Quintana on Sept. 20. Their most recent result was a 2-1 victory over Escuela de Futbol Taurinos de Cayey on Oct. 18.

Ponce FC is also riding high after a decisive 7-0 thrashing of San Juan on Oct. 18. However, their form has been slightly less consistent, with a 2-2 draw against Acad Quintana and a loss to Metropolitan in September.

The season’s previous head-to-head meeting favors the hosts. On Sept. 6, Ponce FC secured a commanding 3-1 away victory over Puerto Rico Surf, handing the Surf one of their two league losses.

Despite that result, Interstat’s game simulator projects a tightly contested affair, predicting a 1-1 draw. The outcome could have significant implications for the Liga Puerto Rico standings as the season progresses.
