SPOKANE, Wash. (Interstat) — Spokane Velocity and Tormenta played to a 1-1 draw Sunday at One Spokane Stadium in the USL League One season opener for both clubs. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored the home side.

Substitute Mason Tunbridge was instrumental for Spokane Velocity, scoring a goal and providing an assist. His cross set up forward Anuar Peláez for the opening goal. Peláez later returned the favor, assisting on Tunbridge’s equalizer after Tormenta had leveled the match. The game was a physical affair, with six yellow cards issued by the officiating crew. The draw leaves both teams with identical records to start the campaign.
