Emelec vs Delfin

GUAYAQUIL, Ecuador (Interstat) — A pair of Ecuadorian clubs heading in opposite directions will meet Monday when Emelec hosts Delfin in a Liga Pro fixture.

The match at the Estadio George Capwell is scheduled for Oct. 27.

Emelec (10-9-7) sits mid-table but has shown recent defensive solidity, earning three consecutive clean sheets in scoreless draws against Guayaquil City, Aucas and Leones del Norte. Their last victory was a 4-0 rout of El Nacional on Sept. 21.

Delfin (6-10-11) is mired near the bottom of the standings and is reeling from a 4-0 home defeat to Macara on Oct. 18. The club is winless in its last five league matches and has scored just one goal in that span.

The head-to-head record this year favors Delfin, however. The teams played to a 2-2 draw in June, but Delfin secured a 2-0 victory over Emelec in February.

According to the Interstat game simulator, Monday’s contest is projected to end in a 1-1 draw.
