MONASTIR, Tunisia (Interstat) — Monastir and Stade Gabesien played to a 1-1 draw in their Tunisia Ligue 1 opener Saturday at Stade de Zrig. Ghislain Ahoudo opened the scoring for the hosts in the 70th minute, but his effort was canceled out by a stoppage-time equalizer from Monastir substitute Raed Chikhaoui in the 97th. The match was influenced by an 18th-minute red card shown to Stade Gabesien’s Yassine Dridi. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored Monastir to win. Both teams begin the season with a draw.
